My philosophy

Integrative health and wellness is multidimensional approach to attain true wellbeing by looking at the big picture of our lives, how the various pieces work together, and making the system run smoothly. We must learn how to care for our mind, body, and spirit, individually in order to maintain a well balanced life. I like to think of the habits and practices I've adopted each as little roots that contribute to the nourishment and strength of my whole being. When things knock me off course, I can always find my way

back through my basic self care practices.

There are essential components that we all need to address in order to be happy and healthy- but the roads to get there are as varied and unique as we are as individuals. I do not seek to give onesizefitsall advice, but rather help each individual find out what happy and healthy looks and feels like for themselves. My mantra is "progress not perfection" and I believe each and every empowered step forward that we take to nurture and nourish ourselves should be celebrated and appreciated fully (no matter how tiny it may seem from the outside).

Over time small changes become easy habits, and before we know it we are looking back in awe the ways we have provided the fertile ground to allow ourselves to flourish!

My journey so far...

I wanted to be a doctor as long as I can remember. As a little girl, and well into my teens I wanted to be a pediatrician. Simultaneously, I was deeply fascinated with everything Mind, Body, and Spirit. These two themes have danced around each other my entire life.  This was further propagated as I pursued my Bachelors degree in Integrative Neuroscience (BioPsych). Learning about the human body, the fascinating interconnections and balances between chemistry, biology, life, and nature, fueled me intellectually and spiritually.  During this time I became aware of many shortcomings in our medical system and became disenchanted with becoming a traditional doctor.. but I was increasingly fascinated with functional medicine and the fact that nutrition and caring for our body could be a sort of “medicine” too. We literally become what we consume (mentally, emotionally, physically, and so on)! I dreamed of a world where Holistic Health was the norm- where prevention, support, western medicine, spiritual connection could all work together to create optimal health for the taking. This perspective stuck with me and hinted at me as I continued on.

As I became a mother, I discovered a deep love for fitness as self care. Again, intrigued by the interaction between our mental/emotional/physical bodies, and the direct impact exercise can have on our wellbeing beyond strength and endurance.  I began to see health as multifaceted components that come together and interact, needing to be nurtured and balanced in their own areas in order for optimal health. I began to have new realizations of the keys to success in habit change, preparation, support, accountability

& wanting to share these lessons learned with others.

Through my trials and tribulations up to this point, I realized finding meaningful ways to nurture the mind and spirit were also crucial to being steadfast and resilient. When faced with difficulty or loss, having mindfulness practices and spiritual infrastructure helped alleviate some of the pressures and constraints. I want to empower people to reclaim this relationship with themselves (and the divine, if they choose) because mindfulness/ prayer/ breathing practices, and so much more,

have a powerful role in the big picture of our health and happiness.

This all culminated for me in 2020. As we know, this was tumultuous year collectively and personally for SO MANY. A series of events out of my control really stripped things raw for me. I consciously had to LEAN on all of these aforementioned skills and practices in order to make it through. At times, I felt like I couldn’t see the sun through the clouds.. but I kept faith that even starting from square one, with the most basic of self care I could rebuild myself and my life even stronger and more resilient than before. I am happy to say, that slow and steady progress, with a LOT of gentle love and compassion paid off.. I will forever be on a journey of learning, growing, and discovering but this chapter truly was a catalyst for a new level of care, healing, and authenticity in my life. Although it was difficult, I am so happy to have the honor of seeing this transformation within myself and I deeply wish to help others find this within themselves- in ways, shapes,

and forms as varied and beautiful as each individual!

Over time- each portion of this journey of self acceptance and discovery has lead me to profound perspective shifts and new levels of self love and compassion. I want everyone to feel empowered to learn how to love and support themselves in their authentic vulnerability.

Roots of Wellness is my way of combining these many lessons learned on my journey in order to support others on discovering health and wellness on their own terms.. Because everything in life is better with a companion & we all deserve to find health and healing within!
